Title: The Changeling
Reviewed by: Emma Wall
The Lowdown
I'll try to do justice to this episode, penned by Christopher Judge (Teal'c) and tidied into script form by Brad Wright... but really I have to say it is one of the greatest episodes of the sixth season so far...and I promise that is no exaggeration.

We start with Teal'c on an operating table and Apophis' flashy eyes as the surgeon. It then cuts to Teal'c trying to Kel'nor'reem, he then goes to see Carter, who is looking for her blue jello in the commissary! She doesn't say that is what she is looking for in the desert section, but it is clear that is her intention! They chat and Carter tries to get him to have some warm milk - Teal'c calls it bovine lactose and there is no way he is drinking that! They have herbal tea instead. Then they cut to a firehouse, where Carter is still talking to him. They are talking about an operation for T man (Teal'c) to give his kidney away. Yes!!! Firefighters! whoops sorry got carried away there!

O'Neill is the Fire Chief and Carter the Captain. Jonas is the proby. (Probationary fireman) He is so cute in his 'new guy' pink pinny! And it is hilarious when he tries to give coffee to O'Neill. Hey, we then get treated to a call out, lights and sirens prevail and even our good friends Siler and the Technician/Chevron guy are in this part!

It's a car wreck, where T freezes in the line of duty, sees firstly Apophis then comes too when he sees his surrogate father supposedly trapped in the wreckage. It's not him, the man trapped is already dead, everyone gets ordered out by O'Neill and T-man disobeys both O'Neill and Carters orders by going to get the man out. The man is Bratac, telling him to save himself, who he thinks is a man called Bray. Needless to say the cars blow up and T-Man gets thrown back. Cut to the commissary in the SGC, and Teal'c falls back in a dead faint whilst talking to Carter.

We cut to Teal'c in the infirmary where he protests his blackout with... I did not faint Dr Fraiser. Carter, Fraiser and Teal'c discuss the reasons behind the 'faint' and determine that the fact he did not Kel'nor'reem, has nothing to do with his episode. Fraiser won't let him out of the infirmary and tells him to rest. Carter's last quip is in regards to prescribing him warm milk, due to his reluctantance to consuming bovine lactose at any temperature.

Prescribe him some warm milk!

Teal'c wakes up in a hospital with Chief O'Neill waiting for him to awaken. T thinks Bray (surrogate father) was in the car and demands to know if they got him out. Apparently he is two floors up waiting for T's kidney. Ok, next we have Bray (Bratac) in a wheelchair and Shawna (Shaunac) come to visit him, stopping by to talk to Chief O'Neill, who says I know a psycologist who can help... T is having nightmares... and I'll arrange him to go talk to T.

There is a little tonsil hockey with Shaunac, which I am sure CJ had a great time writing that scene in and playing it ;-) Always good to write your own snogging scene and be able to play it out to all it's own glory!!! Then Bray buts in and makes a connection in that he was not burned by the explosion! The revelation stuns them, then Teal'c wakes up in the infirmary! Confused yet?

Yes he slept... Dr Fraiser says sorry I woke you and O'Neill anxiously hovers. Apparently Teal'c was dreaming, something Jaffa do not do...Jack smiles when Teal'c explains that it was very real and Jack grins again, his comment on dreams...

OOOOOOOOhhhhh I love it when that happens!

On a side note, I swear Mr Anderson is trying to kill me with laughter! Fraiser insists on an exam of the symbiote then closes the curtain, when it opens again, Dr Daniel Jackson the Psychologist appears to talk to T-man. Yes we keep switching from one reality to another. Still with me? On we go... He (Danny boy) takes him out for a walk, and dicussion about the op to remove his kidney and give to Bray, and that his friends where concerned about him, as was his wife with all the nightmares he is having. He calls Bray his step father. Daniel postpones the Op. Then he leaves after 20 mins saying he is extremely late for another appointment. Typical Daniel.

Now at this point one is thinking ahhhhh I know what they are up to... its alternative realities.... crossing over one another... well be prepared for you to be wrong!

Teal'c enters the gateroom, looking confused, O'Neill tells him that I need you to focus... but they enter the wormhole and Teal'c ends up in the Hospital Bray is in. Apophis appears and tells him that he is afraid to enter the afterlife. Then T-man turns after a nurse asks him if he is ok... Confused??? Stay with me... Then he enters the gateroom again... Teal'c then collapses on the floor shouting my symbiote is gone, my symboite is gone! Now that is totally freaky seeing Teal'c freak out!

He passes out again and we cut to a killing field where hundreds of Jaffa lay dying after being in a great battle and you see Teal'c take his symbiote back off Bratac and put it back in him... Everyone is dead but Teal'c and Bratac. Bratac is dying...

Then T-man wakes in his bed with wifey and has had that nightmare... it is after his operation to help Bray and he can't remember getting home. He visits Bray, who says he is ready to die, as the kidney is being rejected but T won't let him give up after everything they have gone through! Have you figured it out yet?

Daniel turns up for his 'session' with T. Daniel says how do you know that the secret militaty underground thing is or isn't real? T wants to ask his wife if she told Daniel, because he can't believe she would have told him. He talks to him about what he saw in all the dreams and when he is there that's the dream, and when he is here the other is a dream. That both can't be real. If he can't distiguish between either, maybe he doesn't belong in either one. The upshot is that Daniel without trying to say it, says that he isn't in either reality but in another... Ok the first clue that he is Ascended Daniel and not psych Daniel. :-)

Daniel asks him to hang in there just a little while longer... T says you can't leave me here like this. Daniel explains that he has never left his side...

We cut to Teal'c on the ramp of the SGc all bloodied like in the Jaffa Killing field and he is asking for Bratac while Fraiser is trying to get him to tell her how long he has been without a symbiote. He is confused and then taken away to the infirmary while Jack and the others explain that there was no meeting that it was a set up and that they found Teal'c and Bra'tac the only ones alive that they must have been swapping the symbiote between them. All the Jaffa on the planet have their symbiotes removed.

Both Teal'c and Bra'tac are close to death, they are almost on the brink of Mal'sharran, like in the episode Threshold. This explains why he is going through these dreams to us. Jonas talks to him at Fraiser's request, he tells him that he needs him, that he made him feel like one of the team...awwwww...Teal'c calls him Proby...sniff.

Jacob arrives with an answer...they have modified the Tretonin from Pangar, (episode the CURE) for the Jaffa to get rid of the Jaffa dependance on symbiotes. It's given to the two of them, Teal'c wakes up and Daniel is there to have a nice little chat and goodbye, just like he did for Jack in Abyss. In the same jumper mind, does he ever wash that thing???? :-)

Teal'c without Junior... That's a concept.

Was Jack's take on Teal'c's loss of a symbiote. Leave it to him to put it into simpleton!

Awwww... dang good eppi folks, WATCH it.
