Dear Diary,
I was NOT squeeeeeeeeeeeing!!!
Helena said I was, but I wasn't, I swear! My voice is just slightly girlish and maybe a teensy bit high pitched perhaps... LOL.... and what do you expect a girl to do when (after only a few hours of sleep mind you) your phone rings and it is Helena, who is at breakfast at the SG convention in Meadowlands, NJ and then Helena hands the phone to Don S. Davis himself to talk to you? (You? I mean me!)
Well, Don and I chatted for nearly 15 minutes! Now, I am not all that articulate at the best of times, so who knows how I sounded then! Don said that he would (hopefully) be in the Atlanta area (Gainesville actually) in March, to be shooting a horror movie "The River". The movie is, if all goes as planned, to then be screened at Fright Fest in Gainesville in October, where they premiered his movie "Savage Island" two years ago. Additionally, he will be in two episodes of Season 9 of SG-1. He also mentioned that he cannot believe that he, as a (insert here one of several self-deprecating phrases he uses to describe himself) actually has a fan club!
Don told me thank you, that he really liked the pages of screen caps from all of the movies he has been in that we have been sending to him. I told him that Helena was the one who did them (they can be seen at http://www.selmak.org/pages/107/index.htm) YAY! Poor Helena was afraid that she might have to go into a relocation program or something if Don found out that she was the one responsible for those pictures but he said no, he loved them!
After he gave the phone back to Helena, she kept the line open so that I could hear him chatting with them some more. (I had no trouble hearing that lovely voice of his!) Helena presented him, on behalf of the Don S.Davis Fans yahoo group, a certificate proclaiming 04 August (his birthday!) to be Don S. Davis Day. The certificate also states that the DSD Fans as listed have raised money on his behalf in the amount of $225 to be sent in his name to the Gillioz Theatre in Springfield, Missouri towards their Capital Campaign for the restoration of the theatre, especially as Don is an Honorary Board Member. She had Don read the certificate out loud (where is a tape recorder when you need one??)
He also told us a little bit about his boyhood and then about deciding to become an actor and a few other tidbits about himself and filming the show, etc. All in all he was thoroughly charming.
What else can I say, Dear Diary? *sigh* A girl needs chocolate after a morning like this!
Signed,
Contessa
