Dom DeLuise
General StargateDom DeLuise (Urgo) sadly passed away in his sleep after a long illness on Monday 4th May.

Dom was an amazing guy, an actor, a comedian and a chef. He is survived by his wife and his three sons, whom we know from the Stargate franchise; Peter DeLuise (actor/director of many episodes throughout SG-1, Atlantis and Universe), Michael DeLuise (played Nick Marlowe/Colonel Danning in Wormhole Xtreme) and David DeLuise (played Carter's love interest Pete Shanahan).

Dom has brightened the lives of decades of many TV viewers, movie-goers and theatre attendees alike. He was also an author, having published several cook books. As an actor, he was incredibly prolific, appearing in scores of movies and TV shows, in Broadway plays and voicing characters for numerous cartoon shows. Dom worked a lot with Mel Brooks and Burt Reynolds.

Personally, I never had the pleasure of meeting Dom, only his son Peter. Peter told me a story once when he was on a movie set and he went to see his father. He fondly recalled that Dom was being fiercely protected by security and that he couldn't get to his dad. When his dad noticed him, he was the one to shout... "That's my son!" In his familiar booming voice. It's clear to see how much of Dom is in his three boys, with their sense of humour and humility towards others. He will be sadly missed by all.

Rest in Peace Dom DeLuise

I met Dom on one occasion several years ago. He is just as funny offscreen as onscreen. We taked aqbout cooking and we traded a few recipes which I really love.

He was a true gentleman and a wonderful chef. I will miss him. I never got to meet any of the boys but I hope to do so in the future.
