Universe Leader Announced

Production on the (1st Season?) 20 episode's should start in Feb. 2009. It ought to be edgier & darker, Brad Wright & Robert Cooper hope to land a younger demographic than they did with SG-1 & Atlantis and to hold thier die hard fan's attentions & bring them something different.

SGU will follow soldiers, scientists & civilians left to fend for themselves when forced thru a Stargate after thier hidden base comes under attack. The survivors emerge aboard an ancient space ship, that's lost in the far reaches of Space. Thier lead by Dr. David Rush (Robert Carlyle) who's working to unlock the ships mysteries in order to get home-but could have ulterior motives.

You might have seen Robert Carlyle in things like 'The Full Monty', 'Trainspotting', '28 Weeks Later', 'Ravenous' , 'The World Is Not Enough', or on TV's 'Hamish Macbeth', '24' or 'The Last Enemy'.

Personally I have a feeling the writers might be taking a page out of the 'Dr. Who' manual, putting away the history & morality lessons & they might be going for something that's just more noir action adventure. I'm really excited about this new venture.

I'd watch Robert Carlyle paint a park bench, he could make it look like Shakespear.
